Wandering alone into a deep, dark dungeon / castle called Wulf, looking to defeat Dianos, a necromancer of great power and wisdom, is surely a scary quest. Cadaver is an action stratey game and its story takes place in an isometric dungeon with several dark rooms, puzzles and a load of enemies to compete until your objective is completed. Cadaver was released for the Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, PC (MS-DOS) and Acorn Archimedes computers.

CadaverSTORY / GAMEPLAY
The game's main character is a dwarf named Karadoc who roams alone into a deadly dungeon, called Wulf. Wulf is swarmed by zombies (thanks to Dainos) and skeletons that all obey to his every whim, which will usually involve your demise. Other creatures that live in the dark dungeon are large spiders with a venomous bite, spiked balls that float and get straight to the point and even wriggling worms that'll explode every time you contact them! There are also several other traps to avoid! Cadaver takes you on an isometric view of the dungeon and shows great detail in each and every room you manage to enter and search. Karadoc has no defensive measures (except of the ability to jump and walk to avoid enemies) and the only kind of weapon you can find is a bag of stones that can be thrown to enemies. Several objects are scattered around, some useful and others not, that Karadoc can pick up, examine, take or dispose of. As long as you get close to an object an icon menu screen is enabled with which you can act accordingly (i.e. examine, eat, drink, throw etc). Be noted though that your backpack is limited, so it free space is easily filled with junk. The puzzles of the game are very clever and require quite a bit of cryptic thinking to work them out. Cadaver is packed with 5 levels of 70 rooms each! It’s really large! Dianos is a tough opponent and you’ll have to battle long and hard in order to eliminate Wulf dungeon's threats! The gameplay really shines in this game!

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The PC (MS-DOS) has 16-colored graphics that look really good, much like the Amiga and ST versions (the VGA palette is limited in this game). Each room and object is drawn brilliantly and the atmosphere is great with subtle additions such as the flickering lamps, and mushrooms growing as Karadoc wanders by. This version's sound is not its strongest point and it has a good introductory tune and some sound effects during gameplay (but not sampled). Unfortunately there is no music during gameplay.
